Maintenance and Landscape Technician
Hourly Rate $16 to $18/hr. depending on experience
The Sharon Historical Society is located at 236 Main Street in Sharon Springs, NY. The mission of the Sharon Historical Society is to make all Sharon citizens aware of our history by linking the past with the present to inform our future. The Sharon Historical Society exists to inspire people’s understanding that the history we share as a community is the foundation for our future together. Our purpose is to educate and encourage the exploration, appreciation, and utilization of the past to add value throughout our community and bring our great history to a worldwide audience.
The Sharon Historical Society is going through a tremendous growth stage. We are just completing an entire 1900s historical village including a General Store, Post Office, Doctor’s Office, Dress and Millinery Shop, Print Shop, a Synagogue, Barber Shop, Cobbler Shop, and an Ice Cream Store. We are also building a 3-story museum by renovating an old boarding house at 107 Center Street.
Must work onsite at 286 Main Street in Sharon Springs, NY. Reports Directly to President of the Sharon Historical Society. Work hours are flexible depending on a schedule set with Manager.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Maintenance and Landscape Technician

Complies with applicable safety regulations in the performance of duties.

Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the Historical Society areas

Assists with maintenance of property interiors, exterior, and grounds, including removal of debris from grounds

Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic maintenance issues on museum properties

Basic carpentry and painting/patching skills

The use of hand tools, machinery, and the knowledge of how to properly maintain and operate them

Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and techniques

Cut grass occasionally, line trim, weeding, pruning, and blowing off properties with a blower

Planting and maintaining flower beds

Mulching, tree trimming

Hardscape help

Irrigation assistance

Spring and Fall Clean Ups

Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces

Ability to work independently with limited supervision
